Mike Fulwood

Mike is Chief Executive of Energy Markets Limited and has over 20 years of experience in the energy industry. Previously, Mike worked as Director at British Gas Transco. His key responsibility was presenting the revised Price Control regime with the UK regulatory authorities on behalf of Transco, the gas transportation business unit of British Gas. Before that, Mike was President of British Gas Americas and led a high-calibre team responsible for developing downstream projects and investments in North and South America, and monitoring and overseeing the results operations. The regional head office was based in Houston, with additional offices in London, Buenos Aires, Santiago, Sao Paolo, Port of Spain and Mexico City.

At Energy Markets Limited, Mike has been responsible for advising governments and energy and utility companies on acquisitions, project development, and regulatory matters. Mike has acted as the lead expert to the Ukrainian energy regulator, advising them on the liberalisation and restructuring of the gas market.

Brian is Director, Evaluation and Forecasting at Energy Markets. In this role he is responsible for development of our European Gas Service which is based on a unique economic model of the European gas market. He is also responsible for providing benchmarking and business process services for clients with particular emphasis on understanding performance of transmission and distribution companies around the world.

Brian has developed a variety of economic and financial models throughout his career. These include supply and demand forecasting, modelling gas supply contracts and analysis, and projection of market fuel prices. He has developed financial models of a number of companies and business units.

Brian's previous consultancy assignments include: advising on prospects for LNG in the European gas market, constructing scenarios for future import, export and transit flows in a key European gas grid, providing advice on rules of access to a gas pipeline system in Eastern Europe; a gas distribution feasibility study in Egypt; evaluation of a potential merger target in Europe; analysis of gas market price trends in the UK; a survey of the commercial operation of US gas pipelines; and assisting a UK energy company on affiliate pricing of electricity and gas.

Before becoming a consultant in 1997, Brian worked for British Gas for 22 years in a variety of strategic planning and regulatory roles. These roles included economic evaluation of distribution, transmission and storage systems. He was closely involved in the change process and restructuring of British Gas in the 1980s and 1990s, ranging from privatisation in 1986 and the subsequent development of Strategic Business Units right through to the demerger of the company's trading arm, Centrica, in early 1997. His regulatory experience included contributing to development of domestic competition in the UK gas industry and advising on aspects of the 1995 Gas Act.

John Conway

John's experience spans 30 years in the gas industry during a period of great change. In the first half of his career John held a variety of posts in sales and marketing management. Post privatisation, he was involved in policy preparation for international human resource management and development and played a key role in managing the change process in an international business unit. This role also involved assessing organisations taken over or merged and advising on restructuring to maximise asset potential for shareholders.

At Energy Markets, he is the Managing Director of the Energy Services. His main board responsibilities are directing business strategies and developments, contracts negotiation, and marketing. Directing and participating in gas business organisational, operational and marketing assessments on behalf of clients wishing to acquire and restructure gas businesses. He has undertaken gas master plan studies and has participated in the formulation, organisation and delivery of institution building programmes and seminars, covering gas business regulation issues, finance, market competition, engineering/technical matters relating to the gas and other energy industries.

He is an active member of the Finance and Administration committee of the British Consultants & Construction Bureau a leading non-governmental exporting organisation promoting British expertise worldwide. He holds a masters degree in business administration as well as a diploma in management studies. He is a member of the Institute of Directors, an industrial affiliate of the Institution of Gas Engineers and Managers and provides support in the nature of advice on technical issues for the technical committees of this institution.
