• We introduced the company to a potential friendly shareholding acquisition interest in an energy distribution company.
• The company then negotiated to purchase an interest in the distribution company from its current owner. EML was retained to undertake the
commercial due diligence work. Separate legal, technical and accountancy advisors were also retained.
• EML reviewed the regulatory framework, assessed the market potential for gas sales in the licensed area and assessed the value of the
business based upon its analysis.

review covered:
• Where the gas is to be purchased on the network.
• The terms upon which gas should be purchased including contract duration and pricing.
• The arrangements for booking capacity on SNIP and Transco systems.
• Management of nominations, forecasting errors and within day variations.
• Resource implication for the client.
• Information requirements, controls and procedures to ensure sound governance.
• An implementation plan.

• Conducted a feasibility study into the diversification of energy in the Isle of Man, through gas from an offtake from the UK-Ireland gas
interconnector and through electricity interconnectors with the UK mainland. We developed a report analysing the market, the availability and cost
of supplies, the required investments, the environmental and regulatory issues, and an economic appraisal of the project both from an investor and
government viewpoint. We delivered a copy of the project evaluation model developed for this study.
• We subsequently advised the DTI on the financial and project structure for the development of a project to build a gas pipeline to the
Island and to develop the Island's gas industry.
