Contract Title:	Gas Flows and Capacity Requirements at Entry and Exit Points

Client:	A European Gas Transmission System Operator

• The client required projections of gas flows and capacity requirements at entry exit points resulting from Third Party Access and gas transit.

• EGM was adapted to included the entry exit points of the client's system.

• Three scenarios were constructed describing the factors likely to influence requirements for flows to the domestic market and for exports and transits to other European countries.

 

Contract Title:	Development of a Market Model for NW Europe
Country:	UK, Ireland, Belgium, Netherlands & Germany
Client:	New entrant to the gas trading market

• Developed a gas model for the clients use. The model can be used to study how gas supply, demand, contracts, infrastructure and costs interact under different scenarios.

• The model utilises the essential algorithm and techniques of the European Gas Model but was tailored to the client's specific needs and focuses in more detail and fewer countries than the EGM.

• Detailed market study of the UK gas market covering supply, demand and transportation and storage aspects.

• The projections were used to populate a market model which EML developed for the client.

 

Contract Title:	Gas Supplies from Russia and the FSU

• The European Gas Model was used to study prospective flows through the gas transit routes from Russia and other FSU countries to Europe under a range of scenarios.

• The study supported the clientÕs consideration of investment opportunities in the transit pipelines.

 

Contract Title:	Development of the Italian Gas Market

• Report and presentation on the Italian Gas Market and Outlook. The report covered Gas demand, supply, imports, infrastructure, physical flows and transportation tariffs.

• The review included both input and output material from runs of the European Gas Model.

 

Contract Title:	Prospects and Transportation routes for Russian Gas

Client:	Russian Independent Gas Supplier

• The study considered prospect for a sales of gas to Europe for an independent supplier.

• The report covered gas demand, market shares supply, imports, infrastructure, physical flows and transportation tariffs across Europe as a whole and each of 25 European countries.

• The review considered a 20 year time horizon.

 

Contract Title:	The role of LNG in the European gas market to 2021
Country:	Europe
Client:	US Oil and Gas Producer

• A number of runs of the European Gas Model were undertaken on behalf the client.

• The report considered the role of LNG in the European market and how it will compete with gas delivered by pipeline in a competitive market.

• The impact of commoditisation of the LNG market was considered, including arbitrage with US markets.

 

Contract Title:	North West European Transmission Pricing
Country:	UK, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany
Client:	Two UK based Energy Traders

• For two separate UK gas and electricity suppliers, we analysed transmission pricing and the costs of delivered gas supply to customers in North West European markets, taking account of UK gas costs, UK-Belgium Interconnector tariffs, Belgian transit charges, and Dutch and German transportation charges. We derived the costs of delivered gas to city gate points.

• We also carried out a review of the industrial and regulatory background to gas supply in North West Europe, including the impact of the European Gas Directive, the Energy Charter Treaty, national regulations and the major markets.

 

Contract Title:	Dutch Gas Price Forecasts

• 15 year price forecasts were prepared for gas delivered to Dutch power plants.

• Project reviewed alternative pricing scenarios from gas-on-gas competition to continuing linkage to oil prices in gas supply contracts.

 

Contract Title:	Opportunities in the SW Europe LNG Market
Country:	South West Europe
Client:	An Energy Company

• Provide gas price forecasts for SW Europe in support of a project for a client developing an LNG project in W Africa.

• Prices were based on output from the European Gas Model with sensitivities to a range oil price assumptions.
